When using Hy-Clor Granular Pool Chlorine, you should add between 100-170 grams per 10,000 litres as the initial shock treatment.
With granular chlorine, dissolve the required amount in a bucket and add the dissolved chlorine around the parameter of the pool.
Using liquid chlorine, measure the amount required and slowly pour it around the parameter of the pool, never pour it straight into the skimmer.
With tablets, ensure you are using the correct type of tablet as the wrong type can actually cause damage.
It is important that you wear appropriate PPE when adding any form of chlorine to the pool.
There are a number of ways to reduce the chlorine levels in your pool and the most common is to dilute the water (top the levels up) or wait until the levels drop naturally. Alternatively, there are various chlorine remover products available that specifically target chlorine in the pool and reduce the chlorine levels instantly.
Depending on whether you are using a stabiliser in your pool will determine the amount of chlorine required. To maintain the correct chlorine levels, you should add 200ml per 10,000 litres daily to stabilised pool water and 400ml daily to unstabilised pool water.
The pool’s free chlorine levels should be between 1-3ppm and depending on the size of your pool and your current pool conditions, the amount of chlorine you require will vary.
