- What type of pool surfaces can the i2 work on?
- Can I replace the battery in the i2 myself? The i2 is designed to be DIY-friendly, but the battery is sealed inside the motor unit. While it is technically possible to open the motor and replace the battery, we recommend having this done by a professional to ensure the unit is properly sealed. The motor can be replaced by removing 8 Phillips head screws. A video guide is available to help with this process.
- What should I do if the charging pins are broken? The charging pins are built into the motor block. If they break, a new motor block may be required, but a professional can replace just the top cover and the pins. Charging pins usually break when the unit is charged while wet, leading to corrosion. This type of damage is typically not covered under warranty. For assistance, contact Hy-Clor at 1800 625 123.
- My charger light is always green and never turns red, even when plugged in. Why? This could be caused by a broken charger or damaged charging pins (on either the machine or the charger). This issue often occurs when the unit has been charged while wet. Contact Hy-Clor at 1800 625 123 for further support.
- The i2 won’t turn on, or the selector switch is stuck. What should I check? First, confirm that the unit has been charged (see answers 2, 3, 5) If the selector switch is stuck or won't turn the unit on, the switch may be damaged or blocked. The i2 uses magnets to send a signal through the sealed unit to power on. Fine particles or damage could prevent the switch from functioning properly. Follow the video guide to troubleshoot this issue.
- How do I charge my i2? The i2 comes with a keyed charger. Ensure the charging port is completely dry before plugging in the charger, as moisture can damage the cleaner. Water damage of this type is not covered under warranty.
- Can the i2 work in saltwater pools? Yes, the i2 is suitable for saltwater pools with a salinity level of up to 5000 PPM. However, it should be thoroughly rinsed with fresh water after each use to prevent salt buildup.
- Are there any specific chemical requirements for the i2? Yes, the i2 should be used in pools with chlorine levels of up to 4 PPM, a pH level between 7.2 and 7.8, and water temperatures ranging from 5°C to 35°C.
- How long will my i2 battery last before performance issues arise? Battery life can vary. The i2 comes with a 2-year warranty and is expected to provide hassle-free service during that period. To extend battery life, avoid leaving the cleaner on the charger for extended periods. Regular maintenance and frequency of use also affect the battery's lifespan. With proper care, the i2 can last up to five years. We recommend deep cleaning the unit every few months.
- How do I adjust the i2's cleaning pattern? The i2 has adjustable impellers set at specific angles from the centre. Typically, one side is kept at 0 degrees, and the other can be adjusted between 10–40 degrees. This ensures the cleaner moves straight and only turns when needed. Watch the video guide for help with adjusting the cleaner for your specific pool shape.
- Can I remove the cleaner during a cleaning cycle? Yes, you can remove the cleaner mid-cycle. The i2 operates on an on-off cycle, meaning it will continue running until the battery is depleted. Just remember to turn it off using the selector switch/knob before removing it.
- Should I turn off my pool pumps while the cleaner is working? Yes, turn off the pool’s filter and other pumps while the i2 is cleaning. Water movement caused by the pumps can interfere with the i2’s cleaning pattern and potentially damage the cleaner, as it is lightweight.
- What special maintenance is needed when storing the cleaner? When storing the i2, recharge it every three months to maintain the battery life. However, avoid leaving it on charge continuously, as this can damage the battery.
- Are spare parts available? Yes, Hy-clor stocks a wide range of spare parts for the i2. Contact Hy-clor with your specific part requirements, and we’ll help you find the necessary components.
- The i2 is not picking up fine dust or algae. What can I do? The i2 has a 180-micron mesh filter for larger debris. Fine particles, such as dead algae, are smaller than what the cleaner is designed to handle. In these cases, you'll need to remove such particles manually or proactively clean the pool. The i2 includes a brush that scrubs the pool floor, allowing your filtration system to pick up the loosened fine particles.
- What is the maximum slope the cleaner can handle? The i2 is designed for cleaning flat floors and can operate on pool slopes up to 20 degrees. However, 15 degrees is preferred. In our tests, the cleaner was able to manage steeper slopes when moving horizontally across them, thanks to its built-in gyro, which guide its movement.
